2026 will be a very special year for the American Church. The conference of Catholic bishops of the United States, the USCCB, will consecrate the nation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. This act will take place on the Feast Day of the Sacred Heart, in June of next year, as part of the Church's commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the United States.
To celebrate this moment, prayer initiatives are being scheduled, a preparatory novena for the Consecration, and a special focus on the works of mercy and Eucharistic Adoration by the dioceses of the country.
The goal of the American bishops is to rekindle love for the Sacred Heart of Jesus and reaffirm the reign of Christ! The decision was made at the General Assembly in November.
The feast of the Sacred Heart is celebrated throughout the Church on the Friday following the octave of Corpus Christi.
